Orvalis designs and manufactures Triaxial Chambers to help clients meet these challenges and enable the clients to measure soil properties with confidence. Triaxial chambers are suitable for tests involved for the determination of Critical State Line (CSL), static and cyclic Consolidated Drained (CD), Consolidated Undrained (CU), Unconsolidated Undrained (UU), Resilient Modulus, and Permeability tests.


4 Independent Access Lines- No Volume Change SS Valves

Every Triaxial Chambers comes with 4 independent drainage paths to the top and bottom of the specimen which improves the quality and speed of backpressure saturation and consolidation as well as drained compression or tension.

Every line is also controlled by a no-volume change stainless steel valve which prevents volume change and therefore pressure change at either side of the valve as a result of closing and opening the valves. Chambers have a minimal amount of tubing and connections to reduce the work required for saturating the lines. The only tubes used on the chamber have high-pressure rated tubes to make the volume change at the operating pressures virtually zero.


For Advanced Triaxial tests where the adverse effects of piston friction can be important Orvalis’s 34X6 family chambers that support submersible load-cells can provide a very good solution.

2 Independent Access ports on Top for Internal Sensors

Additionally, these chambers have 2 access ports on top for internal sensors such as internal load-cells or temperature probes.

Orvalis’s Triaxial Chambers accept a wide variety of top caps and pedestals made out of hard-coated aluminum, polycarbonate, and Stainless Steel to suit any specific need such as testing soils with corrosive pore fluids or measuring soil’s electric resistivity or shear and proportional wave velocities during the Triaxial test.
