Orvalis designs and manufactures sophisticated and high-end material testing equipment specialized for Geotechnical material testing. Orvalis uses cutting-edge technologies, material, and engineering prowess to design and manufacture products that meet the highest demands of today's research and commercial markets.
Orvalis is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of a variety of equipment (mechanical, electronics, and software) and accessories for major manufacturers of material testing equipment and services.
Some examples of the OEM products designed and manufactured by Orvalis are as follows:
Volume and Pressure Control System (Flow Pump)
Flow Pumps are used to provide confining, and/or backpressure in Geotechnical laboratory testing. More advanced pumps control and measure both pressure and volume.
Specifications:
Pressure Capacity: 150 and 200 psi (1035 and 1380 kPa)*
Volume Capacity: 200 and 300 cc*
Embedded solenoid inlet and outlet valves for automated testing
Embedded pressure sensor for direct pressure measurement
Zero-piping design to minimize volume change in hoses.
Direct and inline micro-stepper system for accurate volume control. This system provides low machine compliance and high performance necessary for quasi-static (cyclic) tests.
Small footprint, light, and stackable: 18X8X10.25 in (457X203X260 mm), 25 lbs. (11kg)

Load and Displacement Control Frame (Load Frame)
Load Frames are used to apply, maintain and measure load or displacement on the specimen (confined or not) in Geotechnical engineering.
Specifications:
Loading Capacity: 2500 lbf. (11.1 kN)*
Travel: 2 in (50 mm)*
Overtravel protection via limit switches
Rigid Frame for minimized machine deflection
Easy to adjust cross-bar height
Micro-stepper system with low-friction gearing for accurate displacement and load control
Minimized backlash for accurate loading/unloading cycles
Accepts Orvalis’s Triaxial pressure cell for up to 2” specimens
Small footprint and light: 12X15X38 in (305X381X965 mm), 35 lbs. (16 kg)

Load and Displacement Control Shear Frame (Shear Frame)
Shear Frames are used to measure shear and residual strength in direct shear and direct simple shear modes, and other geotechnical properties of soil specimens. They can apply, maintain and measure load and displacement vertically and horizontally on the specimen in Geotechnical engineering. Shear Frames, depending on their design and capability can be used for a variety of tests.
Specifications:
Loading Capacity (Static model): 2500 lbf. (11.1 kN) vertical and horizontal*
Loading Capacity (Cyclic model): 2500 lbf. (11.1 kN) vertical and 1000 lbf. (4.45 kN) horizontal (cyclic)*
Travel: vertical +/- 1.75 in (44.5 mm), horizontal +/- 1.45 in (36.8 mm)
Overtravel protection via limit switches
Rigid four-column steel Frame for minimized machine deflection
Micro-stepper system with low-friction gearing for accurate displacement and load control.
Cyclic systems with low inertia servo or stepper controlled systems
Minimized backlash for accurate loading/unloading cycles.
Small footprint and light: 26X16X32 in (660X406X818 mm), 50 lbs. (23kg)
